Worth a Thousand Words
Data and its visualisation, pictures of data, are at the heart of lean and agile methods.  We use it to inform our judgements and decision making.   It can be a great help but handling it is not without its challenges.  It appears to present us with objective fact but is this really the case?
In small groups, we’ll look at some pictures of real life data from teams working across different organisations and see what sense we can make of them.
Where is it casting a light?  What is that light casting shadows over?  What stories are we telling?
This is a ‘standing on the shoulders of giants’ workshop.  We will draw on the work of Troy Magennis, Don Reinertsen and many others including the historians Yuval Noah Harari and E.H. Carr.  A lot of the ideas will doubtless be familiar and we will use the data to explore them.

Building Better Habits (Double Session)
“People don’t usually forget to do things they usually do.” Lieutenent Colombo.

It'd be great if to ‘become agile’ we just needed to telling how to do it. Obviously we'd see the logic & wisdom of it and so always then only do things the new way....
Sadly humans don't work like that!

This workshop we'll dissect some 'bad' agile habits, & look to rebuild them into better ones. Its not a silver bullet, but will give an understanding of changing human behaviour.

We will crowdsource some 'bad' habits as examples to work with.  I'll talk about the anatomy of habits, and we will use our examples to practice identifying each of the elements.I'll then talk about ways we can influence habits (to break them, to alter them or to form new ones), and again we will use our chosen examples to practice coming up with ideas that might work. 

Finally we'll talk about other tips and tricks that can use separately or alongside our new skills to really push for success.

Next-level Kanban (Triple Session)
In this interactive workshop, we will start with a brief review of the Kanban method and what a "deep system" is. I will make you familiar with ways to assess the current state of your system and to find out which areas could be developed further.

I will then show you patterns we have found useful in our coaching work with clients. Bring your own board/ system! We will explore how your system could evolve when you apply these patterns to your system.

Structure of the workshop:
Part 1 - Introduction
Brief review of the Kanban method
Elements of a Kanban System: What is a "deep" system and which benefits can you gain
How to find out where you are today and which areas can be developed further (Agendashift)

Part 2 - Bring your own board / system
You are welcome to bring materials about your own system which we might work on as an example case.
We will make you familiar with Reverse STATIK, a systemic and proven approach to deepen your Kanban system.

I will introduce you to patterns we have found useful in our coaching work:
- Dividing upstream from downstream work
- Implementing Pull across the system(s) (What stands in the way of Pull?)
- Treating different types of work and service classes separately, and others

We will then explore how your system could evolve when you apply these patterns to your system.
